QinetiQ is a British multinational defence technology company headquartered in Farnborough, Hampshire and is the world's 52nd-largest defence contractor measured by 2011 defence revenues, and the sixth-largest based in the UK.
QinetiQ approached us with the need for eLearning compliance modules to cover their online security requirements. Their existing eLearning was lacking in engagement with employees and explorations with photography and cartoon graphics weren’t successful due to their broad employee age groups. A different approach was needed which kept to the budget and effectively communicated the critical topic content.
Built in Articulate Storyline, the eLearning we created centred around a map based menu to guide learners through scenario based quizzes. In a semi realistic artwork style combining a photo-realistic style with an easy and low cost illustrative aesthetic, we created scenes which followed the main character, Sophie, on a journey through 3 locations.
These included use of social media at home, online safety and security in a coffee shop and social engineering which took place on a train. These scenarios provided the backdrop for each topic with a variety of interactions and quiz types that echoed realistic situations. Due to the nature of QinetiQ's business, an experience that was as true to life as possible whilst avoiding otherwise costly face-to-face training and photography assets was essential. As a digital offering, the modules are available 24/7 on any device for employee access. The overall completion was also SCORM trackable for easy reporting as per QinetiQs requirements.
