Withover 60 years of fashion retailing experience, River Island is one of the most well-known and loved brands on the High Street. The retail store has over 350 stores across the UK, Ireland and internationally throughout Asia, the Middle East and Europe, as well as six dedicated online sites
operating in four currencies.
River Island approached us with a brief for an online Mentoring system to link and form skill-based relationships between their employees. The system would need to be engaging for all River Island users and provide a good UX for Mentee, Mentor and Admin roles within a fully responsive system. River Island supplied a unique set of Mentoring criteria that needed to be 'matched' between 'Mentor' and 'Mentee' automatically.
By drawing on our expertise in creating engaging mentoring platforms, Digital Balance were able to provide insights into user behaviour and engagement, and help determine key requirements for the Learning Team at River Island. After collating these requirements into clear and effective user stories Digital Balance created a bespoke, built from the ground up, Mentoring platform.
The automated algorithm-based matching engine allows mentees to connect with mentors to create new relationships. Mentors can control how many relationships they want to have at any one time and update the core skills they can offer to any mentee. Mentees are then able to compare mentors based on skills they require, locations and relationship preferences. All of which can be completed on any device, from anywhere at any time.
Admins of the system are able to monitor and track the length and quality of all relationships. They can easily analyse feedback from both mentors and mentees and quantify the success of each individual that is part of the mentoring scheme. Admins are able to see the skills of employees across the business and identify any gaps as part of training needs analysis.
