With more than £1.7bn in annual sales, Shop Direct are proud to be the UK and Ireland’s leading multi-brand digital retailer, delivering 48 million products every year to four million customers. Shop Direct is one of the largest non-bank lenders in the UK. Their financial services business is made up of numerous specialist divisions, including insurance, underwriting, fraud prevention and operational risk.
Shop Direct wanted to increase the excitement and engagement of their new employees by creating a video to their induction elearn module. They wanted the video to include their current employees discussing topics such as their first day and their roles to give their new starters a feel for the company. As part of the induction module it would be the first thing that the employees see as they began their journey with Shop Direct and so would give that vital first impression.
We filmed the video at two locations: Skyways location in Liverpool and Raven in Oldham. Filming the employees within their working environment and not a studio helps to give the user a feel for the company that they are now a part of. The two locations gave us opportunity to cover a large number of departments and give a true feel for the entire company. The resulting video then helped to shape the finished induction module. We used stills throughout the module to maintain the personal touch from the beginning to the end of the module.
